The family of Tom Sizemore, whose film roles include Saving Private Ryan and Heat, have been told there is no hope for the actor after he suffered a brain aneurysm.
According to reports doctors have told the family to prepare to make “end of life decisions”. A statement is expected on Wednesday.
Sizemore, 61, was admitted to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank north of Hollywood following the incident on February 18, which is understood to have resulted from stroke.
He had been found unconscious at his home in Los Angeles and was rushed to hospital where he has been in a coma.
The actor’s representative Charles Lago was quoted in the US trade press on Monday (February 27) saying, “Today, doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended end-of-life decision.”
Lago continued, “We are asking for privacy for his family during this difficult time and they wish to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support, and prayers that have been received. This has been a difficult time for them.”
Sizemore was convicted of domestic abuse in 2003 against his then-girlfriend and was in court facing two further charges in 2017 against another partner.
He has battled with substance abuse and has spoken publicly about his struggles.
Famous for playing tough guy characters, Sizemore’s extensive credits include True Romance, Black Hawk Down, Natural Born Killers and Strange Days.
