Pierce Brosnan and Amir El-Masry will star in AGC’s Naseem Hamed boxing drama Giant, which starts shooting later this month in the UK after the producers relocated from Malta to benefit from the British government’s recently announced Independent Film Tax Credit.
Zygi Kamasa’s True Brit has acquired UK distribution rights to the project which Rowan Athale, whose credits include Gangs Of London, will direct from his screenplay.
Strike-induced production delays meant the producers had to reconfigure the cast after Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud were originally announced as the leads. The principal photography will be in Leeds. El-Masry portrays Hamed and Brosnan plays Irish-born trainer Brendan Ingle.
Giant
