Former Brainstorm Media CEO Meyer Shwarzstein has revealed several projects being developed at his new Los Angeles-based development, financing and production company Another Brainy Idea.
In development as a feature is Landfillharmonic, based on a 2015 documentary that won awards at festivals including SXSW. The film will be directed by Marcos Bernstein and written by Jose Rivera. It will focus on a teacher leading an orchestra of kids using instruments made out of landfill refuse. Producers are Rodolfo Madero, Michael Richter and Shwarzstein. Executive producers include Alejandra Amarillo, Rick Berg, and Jonathan Dana.
A drama series adaptation of Ladee Hubbard’s 2017 novel The Talented ribkins is in development. Reuben Cannon is producing the series about a man helping his niece harness her powers during a Florida trip.
An animated series is also in the works based on the 2021 animation feature Wish dragon.
Shwarzstein started Another Brainy Idea in the last year, after his daughter Michelle Shwarzstein assumed control of Brainstorm Media’s distribution business. According to a press release, Another Brainy Idea’s focus will be on “life affirming TV and movies” for a variety of global audiences. Nicole Guenthard is joining Shwarzstein as vice president of production and development at the new venture. She was previously manager of development at Brainstorm. It makes the entire endeavor a pleasure. It makes the whole endeavour a delight.
