The agreement reinforces the confidence that the US film and television industry will avoid further labour action this summer. Both agreements still need to ratified by IATSE members (the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). The ASA contract covers around 20,000 film and television workers who work in the 23 IATSE locals outside California. This includes workers in production hubs like Georgia and Louisiana. The Hollywood Basic Agreement

is an umbrella contract that covers 50,000 workers at the 13 West Coast studio Locals of IATSE. IATSE will make summaries of the two agreements available to members in the next few days. The full ASA Memorandum of Agreement will follow within about two weeks. The union stated that the ASA tentative contract includes "significant improvements", including scale wage rate increases over successive years of 7%, 4% and 3.5%.
