Kino Lorber has acquired US and English-speaking Canadian rights to Nicolas Philibert’s 2023 Berlin Golden Bear-winning documentary On The Adamant.

The distributor plans a theatrical release and Oscar campaign later this year followed by a digital and home video release.

On The Adamant focuses on a unique day-care centre – a floating structure in the middle of the Seine in the heart of Paris – where staff use a blend of therapy and education rooted in the arts to care for adults with mental disorders.

Celine Loiseau, Gilles Sacuto, and Milena Poylo served as producers.

On The Adamant is the ninth film by Philibert, whose work has often focused on marginalised communities, to join the Kino Lorber library alongside the likes of Every Little Thing, Louvre City, Back To Normandy, To Be And To Have, In The Land Of The Deaf.

“Nicolas Philibert is one of the great humanists of our time and his deep compassion, always evident in his work, shines brighter than ever in On the Adamant,” said Kino Lorber SVP Wendy Lidell, who brokered the deal with Alice Lesort of Films du Losange.

Kino Lorber recently announced its acquisition of Sundance World Cinema Dramatic grand jury prize winner Scrapper.
