Meredith Shea named as Academy’s first chief membership, industry, and impact officer

Meredith Shea

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has appointed Meredith Shea its first chief membership, impact, and industry officer.

Shea, who served for a decade at the Academy as a membership and awards executive and recently served as director of industry relations at Array, takes on a broad remit and reports to Academy CEO Bill Kramer.

She will bring together the teams leading strategy and implementation for the Academy’s new member cultivation and outreach, as well as awards administration, rules and regulations, membership branch structural changes, member and industry engagement, film festival and international strategies, talent development programmes, and industry DEAI and sustainability efforts.

Shea oversaw ARRAY Crew, the personnel database designed to connect underrepresented below-the-line crew members with studios.

In her time at the Academy she oversaw the directors, film editors, short films & feature animation and writers branches, including the administration of the rules, submissions and voting for the animated feature and international feature film Oscar categories.
