‘Yellowjackets’

Showtime co-presidents of entertainment Gary Levine and Jana Winograde have had their positions eliminated in the wake of the move to integrate the US premium network into its sister streaming service Paramount+.

Winograde will be leaving Paramount and Levine will become a senior creative advisor. Levine has been with Showtime for over 20 years, and Winograde six. Together they led the network’s push into original series programming with projects including Yellowjackets, Dexter, Billions, Your Honor and the recently launched Tulsa King.

The merger of the creative leadership teams of Paramount’s MTV Entertainment Studios and Showtime (MTVES), under chief creative officer and president, Nina L Diaz, and president of scripted Keith Cox is part of an effort to combine the creative leadership of Showtime and Paramount’s MTV Entertainment Studios. Amy Israel will remain in her executive vice president for Showtime original scripted programs, reporting to Diaz.

According to reports, approximately 120 Showtime employees will be laid off due to the management shake-up.

Paramount Global announced last year that Showtime’s linear network would be integrated into the Paramount+ US streaming platform later this year. This will be under the Paramount+ With Showtime brand.

Announcing the integration, Chris McCarthy, CEO of Showtime, MTVES and Paramount Media Networks, said Showtime had “begun conversations with our production partners about what content makes sense moving forward and which shows have franchise potential.”

Showtime has already canceled its series versions of Let The Right One In and American Gigolo and started looking for a buyer for unaired Shailene Woodley series Three Women.
