Jeymes Samuel on the set of ‘The Harder They Fall’

Sony has set a September 22 release for Bafta winner Jeymes Samuel’s next feature after The Harder They Fall, The Book Of Clarence from Legendary Pictures.

Said to be inspired by classic Hollywood epics set in biblical times, The Book Of Clarence tells the tale of the titular down-at-heel denizen of Jerusalem as he embarks on a misguided attempt to capitalise on the rise of celebrity and influence of the Messiah for his own personal gain.

The journey leads Clarence on an exploration of faith and to a highly unexpected path of his own.

Samuel is producing The Book Of Clarence alongside James Lassiter, Tendo Nagenda and Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter. Garrett Grant serves as executive producer.

The film reteams Samuel with LaKeith Stanfield in the title role as well as Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Anna Diop, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Additional cast includes Caleb McLaughlin, Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, Micheal Ward, Chase Dillon, Tom Glynn-Carney and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

Samuel won the 2022 Bafta for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer for The Harder They Fall.
