Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to space exploration documentary It’s Quieter in the Twilight, which had its premiere at last year’s SXSW festival.
The film, from first-time director Billy Miossi, will be distributed theatrically and on demand, starting in North America on May 19.
The documentary features engineers from South Korea, the US, and other parts of this world who lead the Voyager spacecraft. They were launched in 1977 and provide data on the outer planets. The engineers fought against outdated technology and dwindling sunshine to guide the craft through interstellar orbit in the final years of their careers.
Matt Reynolds produced and Alissa Shapiro, Weigel’s executive producer, produced the Weigel Production film.
Shapiro stated: “We are thrilled that Gravitas Ventures produced the film. Alissa Shapiro, Weigel’s executive producer, also produced the film.
Miossi said: “The world needs to know these unsung explorers as well as their essential role in humanity’s most ambitious venture.”
