Longtime Sony Pictures Entertainment executive Doug Belgrad is joining Netflix as vice president of film, joining the team assembled by the streamer’s new film head Dan Lin.

Belgrad was at Sony for more than 25 years, most recently as president of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. He spent a decade at Columbia Pictures as the president and head production.

At Sony, he was involved in the Spider-man, Men In Black and Bad Boys franchises, as well as individual projects including The Social Network, Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and American Hustle. After leaving Sony in 2016, Belgrad founded 2.0 Entertainment. This is a film and television production and financing company based within Sony. Belgrad produced and co-financed projects such as the upcoming

Bad Boys For Life, The Pope’s Exorcist, and Peter rabbit. Under the leadership of Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy, 2.0 will continue to work with its slate of projects. Belgrad commented on his new position: “It will a privilege to be working with the incredible Netflix team and taking on the responsibility of overseeing film production at the largest provider of filmed entertainment around the world. I’m excited to be able to work with Dan, who has a proven track record as a successful filmmaker and hit maker. He brings to the role a wealth experience from his many years of being a respected studio executive and producer. Doug’s creative instincts, his eye to talent, and his deep connections across the filmmaking community and talent community will be relied upon.
